It is time to celebrate! On January 10th, 2024 we’ll mark the 25th anniversary of the “new” library being open! We'll open with a bagpiper and a set of short speeches to mark the occasion, immediately followed by an open house in the McGuire Room until 6 pm. Join us for cupcakes and stories of great library memories! Here’s some fun numbers to see how we’ve grown. 1999 2024 # of items in the collection 170,667 460,511 # of staff 49 79 E-Books 70 57,811 Circulation 133,469 1,243,345 Library Visits 90,000 363,797 Questions Answered 38,713 91,786 Obviously with that much growth, our well-used library has seen some wear. As we look forward to 2024, many will be pleased to know that we’ll be renovating the restrooms. We’ll keep patrons posted about timelines for this construction. Other capital improvements in the works - updates to the technology in our public meeting rooms, reconditioning the elevators, and HVAC upgrades to replace obsolete components. This year also marks the last year of our three-year Strategic Plan! The focus of this year will be on continuing to improve our interior space to be welcoming to all (Goal - Inclusive Space) and increasing literacy efforts as all ages continue to struggle with reading (Goal - Targeted Outreach). Watch for a big announcement on this initiative next month :). Hope to see you on January 10th, cheers to a stellar new year!
