The Caldecott Medal is one of the most prestigious awards in children’s literature, awarded annually by the American Library Association to the artist of the most distinguished American picture book for children. Named after 19th-century English illustrator Randolph Caldecott, it celebrates artistic excellence in children’s books and serves as a hallmark of outstanding illustration.
