'Tis the Season for Love Letters!

Join us with local author, Jim McCormick, to hear him talk about his new book Story of a Marriage: 50 Years of Christmas Love Letters.

Christmas Eve is not the ideal time for a husband to realize that he had forgotten to buy his wife a gift. Especially when the couple is experiencing their very first Christmas as a married couple. Panic mode. After all, this was 1968. Shopping malls were still a relatively new concept and gas stations were primarily a place for fueling up your car, not for scoring a last-minute gift.

Jim McCormick remembers that evening well. “I was feeling romantic but having forgotten to buy a really nice gift for my darling, I did the only thingI could do. I poured out my heart in as beautiful a letter as I could muster about our life together that year.” Not only did McCormick save that critical “first Christmas,” his impromptu gift evolved to become a holiday tradition captured in his new book, Story of a Marriage: 50 Years of Christmas Love Letters, from Mission Point Press.
