Led by Speech Language Pathologist Jill Dillon, Inclusive StoryTime is a welcoming and supportive experience designed for children of all abilities. This special session incorporates augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices to help children with complex communication needs engage with the story. Storytellers will model the use of AAC devices to promote communication, ensuring every child can participate, whether through spoken words, devices, or other methods.
In addition to storytelling, we will create a sensory-rich environment that includes hands-on activities, tactile materials, and engaging visuals to bring the story to life. Children can explore the narrative through touch, sound, and movement, making the experience as interactive and engaging as possible. We also provide alternative seating, fidget tools, and headphones to help children stay comfortable and focused, allowing them to fully immerse themselves in the story at their own pace.
This inclusive session is designed to foster a love of reading, encourage communication, and create a space where all children feel empowered to participate, express themselves, and have fun!
