There’s more to love at your library this month!
(TRAVERSE CITY) - Not only is February is Library Lover’s Month, February 22 is Take Your Child to the Library Day! We’re ready to celebrate with you at the Traverse Area District Library (TADL). A full roster of our events is available online at tadl.org/events or via our newsletter. Here are a few highlights:
Blind Dates!
Our popular "Blind Date with a Book" program is back, and this year you can even double-date! Visit the Blind Date with a Book display from Adult Services and then stop by the Sight & Sound Department for a Blind Date with a Movie. You just might fall in love with a new author/auteur!
Other adult highlights this month include:
- Wed. 2/12 - Learn about weapons of the past with the Historic Weapons Guild, 6:30 pm
- Mon. 2/24 - Papercrafting Junk Journals, 6 pm

New Youth Events
Dance through time! Sat. 2/15, 11 am
Join us for "A Journey Through Rhythm and Time," our special Black History Month program with dancer and performer SkyeLea Martin. SkyeLea will take us on a dancing time-traveling journey, from the 1920s all the way to the present. Kids will get to join SkyeLea in exploring some tap and percussive steps along the way. Don't miss this rhythmic adventure!
Gordon the Magician - Sat. 2/22, 11 am
Celebrate "Take your child to the library" day with us! It's the perfect time to discover some library magic (literally and figuratively!). Gordon the Magician will be here to wow us with his magic tricks and other surprises.
Other new youth events include:
- Thu. 2/13 - Power up the legos! Bricks & Build (ages 9-12), 4 pm
- What happens when you add motors to Legos? Let’s find out! (Must register online)
- Sun. 2/16 & 2/23 - Learn to Knit! Children & Caregivers, 2 pm
- Join Kate’s hands-on beginner’s knitting class! (Two-part class, Must register online)
Teen Events
Design our next-gen library computers - Sat. 2/8, 1 pm (Must register online)
Our teen and tween computers are ready to be updated! Sign up to be on the design team. Technology Support Specialist Nic will guide the process, answering questions and making sure pieces will work together. After we have the selected components, we will schedule a build time.
Powerpoint Party - Fri. 2/28, 6:30 - 9:30 pm
Are Red Power Rangers true team leaders? Take a five-minute deep dive into best snacks or convince us why a hot dog is/is not a sandwich. Whatever! YOU make the slides, and we all have fun. Pick a topic and unleash your POWERpoint! Who’s in? (Must register online)
