It’s summer…time for those beach reads and kids activities!

(TRAVERSE CITY) - Our thoughts exactly, we’re jumping right into our free, fantastic Summer Library Challenge 2023! Our theme this year is All Together Now, and we’ve planned an amazing slate of programs, including collaborative art projects, for all ages and all readers. Anyone is welcome to sign up for the program now, at tadl.org/summerreading. We will have a kickoff party at the Main Library June 19 and the program will conclude with a finale party July 31. The Book Bike will be at the Sara Hardy Farmers Market on Wednesdays with cookbooks, seeds, novels, children’s books, craft kits and more! Additional highlights in our June calendar include:

Michele P. Howard, Library Director - Named to Michigan Library Association Board of Directors
Ms. Howard is one of the new at-large members of the Michigan Library Association Board of Directors. As a professional librarian for 28 years, Ms. Howard will put her experience to work on behalf of TADL specifically and libraries in general. The Michigan Library Association (MLA) is Michigan's oldest and largest library association. Membership includes more than 2000 libraries and individuals throughout Michigan from MLA is a collaborative network of libraries, library professionals and library supporters dedicated to advocating for libraries, growing professionally as leaders in the library community and advancing the profession through sharing of best practices, innovative ideas and new programs and services that benefit library personnel, library patrons and the communities libraries serve.
Josh Denby - Head of Sight & Sound
Josh Denby is moving from the Main Library’s front desk to become the new Head of Sight & Sound. Mr. Denby relocated to the area in 2021, and his experience includes over 12 years working in an academic library as a customer service manager at the University of Houston. He has a B.F.A. from Stephen F. Austin State University and he is looking forward to putting his passion for music and movies to work in the Sight & Sound department.
