(TRAVERSE CITY) - April is a month of many celebrations - including National Library Week, Poetry Month, Preservation Week and our Bookmobile’s first birthday! The birds are singing, the spring flowers are coming up, and we have some fantastic programs planned.
Special Events
Sat. 4/8 at Noon - Bookmobile Family Birthday Party
While we will have a small celebration on the Bookmobile’s actual birthday April 6 there will be a Saturday party at the Main Library for families with crafts and snacks (while supplies last). Our birthday presents for the Bookmobile include books and music suggested by library patrons during the month of January.
In its first year the Bookmobile has made over 100 stops for library outreach and other community events. In addition, we have a regular schedule of outreach to group homes and assisted living facilities. We look forward to building on that in the year to come. Visit tadl.org/ontheroad for a birthday video and a print-your-own model of the Bookmobile!
Sat. 4/8 10 am Coffee with a Cop - Meet our North Boardman TCPD Team (Officer Justin Nowland and Social Worker Jennifer Campbell) in the Main Library Atrium.

Beyond the Visible: Hilma af Klint Sat. April 22 2-4 pm
Hilma af Klint was an abstract artist before the term existed, a visionary, trailblazing figure who, inspired by spiritualism, modern science, and the riches of the natural world around her, began in 1906 to reel out a series of huge, colorful, sensual, strange works without precedent in painting. Hilma af Klint is the unsung heroine of modern art.
