Listen Local with TADL Waves!

Posted on:

The Traverse Area District Library (TADL) Sight & Sound Department is proud to announce the debut of TADL Waves - a new local music streaming service! Not only will TADL's taxing district cardholders be able to listen to local musicians, the musicians will also earn a commission from the streams as well.

Details

  • Local musicians are encouraged to upload a song during the June 10 - July 8 submission window.
  • A panel of jurors will select up to 20 musicians from the submissions to become the "first wave" of artists on the service.
  • The selected lineup will be announced July 22, as part of TADL's Summer Reading Club Finale Party.
  • The service will go live in late July or early August, with a listening party at the library to follow. Events will be posted on tadl.org/events as details are finalized.

Josh Denby, who manages TADL's Sight & Sound Department, led the effort to bring TADL Waves to the library. "We pride ourselves on helping our library cardholders discover new music and new perspectives," Denby said. "I am beyond excited to not only help local musicians build a following but also help them make a living doing what they love."

Denby organized the panel of jurors who will be selecting the first wave of music to the service. If you would like more information about TADL Waves please contact TADL's Sight & Sound Department.

Michele P. Howard, TADL's Library Director, is also looking forward to watching the service launch. "This project really showcases some of the best public libraries have to offer. Local music enriches our community, and we're helping support the arts in the process. I'm really proud of Mr. Denby and his team for reaching and finding ways to grow what we have to offer."
